When Pony released its Pro 80 in 1983, it was the time when white leather was a common tactic within the athletic footwear industry. The silhouette was inspired by 1979 David Thompson Pro-Model Topstar-style sneakers in blue and white, which both shoes have been autographed by the Skywalker - David Thompson - Michael Jordan's favorite player.
